November 22, 2005

WARSOP, Trelawny - Three Trelawny men, including a farmer and his teenage son, were arrested and charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition by the police following the recovery of two illegal firearms on premises in Wilson Valley on Sunday.

Sunday's find has brought the number of illegal firearms recovered in the parish this year to 20.

The three - Michael Ferguson, the 37-year-old farmer; his son, Steven Ferguson, 14, and Davian Daley, 20, also a farmer - are booked to appear in court later this month.

According to the Constabulary Communication Network's liaison officer for Trelawny, Constable Patrick Chin, at about 8:30 Sunday morning, the police went to a house at Wilson Valley where a search was carried out and a homemade handgun with one live 12-gauge cartridge allegedly found.

The police said they also found a Wichranch rifle, with serial number HW80K, on the roof of an abandoned house on the same premises.
