OMAR Brown, a bearer employed to Bert's Auto Parts in Kingston, was yesterday robbed of more than $50,000 and then shot dead near the company's Camp Road premises.
Brown, 31, who resided at Vineyard Town in Kingston 3, was entering Bert's premises when he was attacked by an armed man who opened fire, hitting him several times. The man, after relieving the bearer of the money he was carrying, escaped in a waiting motor vehicle.
"Dem kill him just so. I cannot believe it," one of Brown's co-worker said as tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Right now all we caa say is that his death is very unfortunate. He was a good worker and we will miss him very much," another employee said.
A man, who claimed that he was an eyewitness to the shooting, told the Observer that the robbers were waiting in a van that was parked along the sidewalk.
"Anybody would believe that a parts dem want to buy, because that is how many people who come to buy would wait if the gate dem nuh open yet," the man said. Brown's co-workers, obviously shaken by the tragedy, huddled together immediately after the shooting, as they tried to comfort each other. Some cried openly.
