Attorney Clayton Morgan still hoping for EC St James seat

MONTEGO BAY, St James - Attorney-at-law Clayton Morgan says he still considers himself a potential candidate to contest the East Central St James constituency on behalf the ruling People's National Party ( PNP), despite withdrawing from last weekend's election.

Councillor for the Springmount division Donald Colomathi won the election ahead of Jacqueline McBean-Blake and Hughlin Boyd.

But a determined Morgan said: "I am prepared to go forward on condition that there is no other candidate capable of winning the seat based on the (party's internal) polls."

Saturday's selections, which took place in the constituencies of Western Hanover, North West, West Central, South and East Central St James, represented the first of several hurdles that aspirants need to clear in order to cement their positions as running candidates at the next general elections, which are constitutionally due next year...
