SPANISH TOWN, St Catherine - Five members of a St Catherine family, who were arrested for aiding and abetting the rape of their 15-year-old family member and subsequently released on station bail, were re-arrested when they appeared in the Spanish Town Criminal Court yesterday.
Senior Resident Magistrate Lorna Errar Gayle demanded the re-arrest of the five immediately after hearing the allegations against the accused persons.
The five accused persons, all of Fletchers District, Kitson Town, St Catherine, include the girl's father Leslie Harrison, 45, a chauffeur; her mother Leanora Harrison, 54, a domestic helper; and her sister Nardia Harrison, 20, a cashier. They have been arrested and charged with aiding and abetting carnal abuse, a breach of the Child Care and Protection Act of 2004.
At the same time, two brothers, Conrad Angus, 35, a farmer, and Collin Angus, 21, a musician, have been charged with several counts of rape, three counts of carnal abuse, indecent assault and assault occasioning bodily harm to the 15-year-old girl.
Leslie Harrison and his wife Leanora were given station bail in the sum of $60,000, while daughter Nardia was released in the sum of $40,000.
The 15-year-old victim, who is nursing a two-year-old baby, alleged to be the child of one of the two accused brothers who allegedly raped her on separate occasions on the same day, was remanded at a place of safety to return to court next Tuesday.
The magistrate, on hearing the charges, said it was appalling that the parents of the girl did not take care of their 15-year-old girl child.
Detective Corporal K A Roach told the court that on September 12, the 15-year-old girl and her mother Leanora, made a report to the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) (rape unit) at the Spanish Town Police Station that she was raped on August 29....
