RM postpones verdict in Caldon Bank fraud case

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey has put off her verdict in the fraud case of Nicole Fullerton, former acting operations manager of the failed Caldon Merchant Bank, until next week Monday.
The verdict should have been handed down on Monday in the Corporate Area Resident Magis-trate's Court but the RM said she was not quite ready with her judgement.
Fullerton, who is the daughter of Henry Fullerton, former head of the failed Caldon Finance Group, is charged with defrauding businessman Colin Karjohn of $15 million in 1998.
Karjohn said he gave Ms. Fullerton the money to invest for one month but the money was not returned to him.
Misleading statements
Ms. Fullerton said in her defence that she invested the money which Karjohn gave her.
Henry Fullerton, who is charged with breaches of the Financial Institutions Act, is to return to court on December 7. The Director of Public Prosecutions is to decide whether he should be tried in the Resident Magistrate's Court or in the Home Circuit Court.
Mr. Fullerton is accused of making misleading statements and allegedly inducing Karjohn to invest money.
