Man kills wife, police recover body parts

A 42-year-old St. James accountant has been charged with the murder of his wife, whose body parts were recovered from a pit latrine and an incinerator on the Lucea Primary School compound in Hanover yesterday.

Aston Campbell of Porto Bello Heights, St. James, reportedly confessed to killing his 43-year-old wife, Carol Campbell, after detectives from the Mount Salem police found bloodstains in his vehicle.

Mr. Campbell and his wife resided in the same house despite being separated about six years ago. It is said that the couple was in court to settle the allocation of their assets.

"Mrs. Campbell's daughter came and reported on Sunday that her mother was missing from the day before, and that calls to her phone were unanswered, which is unusual," a policeman told The Gleaner. "She was accompanied to the house where the husband was seen, questioned and the premises examined. He subsequently admitted to killing her and took us to where he disposed of her body parts."

Reports are that about 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, the couple had an argument during which Mr. Campbell used a machete to hit his wife on the head....
