Ganja seized in Miami on flight from Jamaica

More than 3,000 pounds of ganja was confiscated at Miami International Airport in the United States last week, after arriving on a cargo flight from Jamaica.
The bricks of ganja had been concealed inside boxes of spices.
Weighing 3,540 lb, the ganja which arrived in the United States last Thursday carried a street value of US$4 million (approx-imately J$264 million).
According to the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a police sniffer dog called Molly alerted her handler to the 122 boxes of 'salt and pepper seasoning'. X-rays revealed that, while the boxes contained loose spices, they concealed 3,540 bricks of ganja.
No arrests have yet been made. Jennifer Connors, CBP press officer, told The Gleaner that the seizure was the largest at the airport since 2003.
When The Gleaner contacted the local narcotics police yesterday, they said they were unaware of the seizure until this week but were now in contact with the U.S. authorities in relation to the find.
