Retired cop hit by pick-up truck, dies

ALBION, St Thomas - Retired superintendent of police Egerton McGivan, 68, of Forest Avenue in Yallahs was killed Wednesday after he was hit by a Ford pick-up truck on the Albion main road in Yallahs, St Thomas.

The driver of the pick-up 35-year-old Christopher Reid of Marine Drive, Marine Park, St Catherine, has since been charged with manslaughter in connection with the accident.

The police reported yesterday that McGivan was crossing the Albion main road at about 12:05 pm when he was hit by the pick-up. He sustained multiple injuries and was taken to the Princess Margaret's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
