Three Clarendon men on gun, ammo rap
THREE men are now behind bars following the seizure of an illegal gun in Dunbar River, Westmoreland on Tuesday.
Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are Clifton Woolery, 33, Clifton Williams, otherwise called 'Scary', 37, and Orville Bell, otherwise called 'Wally', 30, all of Clarendon.
The Westmoreland police said that about 12:30 Tuesday morning, members of a police patrol saw a parked Toyota Corolla motor car with the three men aboard near a service station in Dunbar River. The men's actions, according to the police, aroused the suspicion of the lawmen and they were searched, during which a Taurus 357 Magnum revolver, serial #5207560, and 18 rounds of .38 cartridges were allegedly found. The men are booked to appear in the Western Regional Gun Court on Monday, February 26.
Police probing Cambridge machete slaying
A man was Tuesday taken into custody as the Cambridge police commenced investigations into the machete slaying of his 28-year-old cousin in Shortwood district, Cambridge, St James.
The dead man has been identified as Stanley Barrett, while facing the capital charge is Terry Graham, 24, both of Shortwood district. The Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) liaison officer for the parish reported that about 10:10 pm, Barrett and Graham were at home when a dispute developed between them, during which a machete was used to chop Barrett several times.
Barrett, the CCN reported, ran but subsequently collapsed and died in a nearby churchyard. The police were summoned and the body removed to the morgue for post-mortem examination. Graham later handed himself over to the police....
