New lawyer appointed to Killancholly murder accused

February 24, 2007

Attorney-at-law Robert Fletcher has been assigned to represent 31-year-old security guard Jeffrey Perry who is charged with the murder of three children at Killancholly, St. Mary.

Perry appeared in the Home Circuit Court yesterday and was remanded to return to court on March 16 when his case will be mentioned.

Last month, attorneys-at-law Linton Gordon and Carlene McFarlane got permission from the court to withdraw from the case because they said they were having problems getting instructions from Perry.

The defence had contended that Perry was undergoing psychiatric treatment and was was not fit to plead. A jury heard evidence from three psychiatrists last month and handed down a verdict that Perry was fit to plead and was able to follow evidence at his trial.

Fatally stabbed

The Crown is alleging that Perry, who is a cousin of the children, fatally stabbed them on January 28, 2005.

The deceased are 15-year-old Dwane Davidson, 13-year-old Sue Ann Gordon and four-year-old Shadice Williams.
