Teen freed of murder charge

May 25, 2007

A Home Circuit Court jury has freed 18-year-old Troy Baugh, labourer of a Kingston address, of the murder of 23-year-old Keino Morrison who was reported to be mentally ill.

A witness testified that, on April 29 last year, Baugh stabbed Morrison who was standing on a road in Southside, downtown Kingston. The witness said he did not know Baugh before.

Cross-examined by attorney-at-law Alando Terrelonge, who represented Baugh, the witness said she did not know Baugh before and she only saw him when she called to him and he turned around for a few seconds. She said she did not report the matter to the police until about eight weeks after the incident.

Baugh said in his defence that he did not know anything about the incident. He said he was at his aunt's home having breakfast when the police came there and arrested him.

The jury retired for more than an hour and freed Baugh.
