Guyanese loses appeal against extradition

A Guyanese businessman wanted in the United States on drug-related charges has lost his High Court appeal against an extradition order.
High Court judge, Justice Gregory Smith, in dismissing the appeal, said the four complaints raised by the appellant, Peter Morgan, were without merit and ordered that the businessman bear the legal costs incurred by the state in defending the action.
Morgan, 46, had appealed on the grounds that the record of the case against him was not properly certified, and that they were laid outside the legal limit.
He had also argued that it was unlawful to rely on anonymous witnesses, and that the proceedings were unjust and oppressive in all the circumstances.
