Prime Minister's bodyguard faces court today

August 03, 2007

Cpl. Randolph Mullings, a member of the Prime Minister's security team, is scheduled to appear in the Yallahs Resident Magistrate's Court, in St. Thomas, today.

Corporal Mullings' case was put off yesterday, as the judge was absent from court.

Director of Public Prosecutions Kent Pantry ruled earlier this week that the policeman is to be slapped with four charges in relation to a stolen vehicle that was found in his possession, on July 22.

Others arrested

Three other persons, who were subsequently arrested by the police in relation to the incident, are also booked to appear in court today.

They are facing charges of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to receive stolen property.

In custody are Judith Fuller, 26, of Denbigh, Clarendon; Lloyd Vannister, 50, of RaeTown, Kingston; and 40-year-old Robert Lewis of Bedward Gardens, in St. Andrew.

In another twist to the story, The Gleaner understands that Corporal Mullings' girlfriend may have fled the island.

It is also reported that the driver of the car at the time it went missing, Adrian Clarke, 21, might have also gone overseas.

The police have since issued a missing persons bulletin for Clarke, who is of Poor Man's Corner, west of Yallahs.
