Three guns seized, men arrested in Kingston

August 14, 2007

Three men were arrested by the police yesterday, after the car in which they were travelling along Dames Road in Woodford Park, Kingston 4, was found to contain three illegal guns and a quantity of ammunition.

The find was made after the police observed a Nissan Bluebird motor car breaking a one-way, and signalled the driver to stop.

Following a search of the vehicle, the weapons, along with ammunition and other items, were found.

The police seized a .357 Magnum Revolver, a 9mm Browning, and a 9mm Beretta.

Persons charged

Charged with illegal possession of firearm are 24-year-old Omar Campbell of a Smith Street address in Kingston 4, 28-year-old Clinton Clark and 30-year-old Roger Brown, both of King Weston, St. Andrew.

Police reports are that about 8:30 a.m., a patrol unit was travelling along the avenue when the driver of a Nissan Bluebird was seen breaking the one-way flow of vehicles.

This aroused the suspicion of the officers who immediately signalled the driver to stop. It was then found that the driver had two passengers with him and following a search, one of the three men was found to be in possession of an illegal weapon.

The trunk of the motor car was also searched and a white plastic bucket found. The bucket was found to contain two other illegal firearms, along with 27rounds of 9mm and .38 ammunition, two T-shirts, three bottles of foreign liquor and an army compass.

Three spent shells were also found within the revolver, indicating that the weapon was recently used.

The Mobile Reserve police are investigating.
