Inland Revenue officer to face forgery charge

Erldine Brown, principal collector, at the Inland Revenue Department in St. Ann's Bay, St. Ann, is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on January 14, 2008, to answer to a forgery charge.
It is being alleged that in May this year the signature of businessman Winston Josephs was allegedly forged on documents which were presented at the Office of the Registrar of Companies.
The Crown is alleging that the documents made Brown and Josephs partners in a hardware business in St. Ann. It is further alleged that prior to the registration of the business in May, Josephs was the sole registered owner.
Charges
Josephs made a report to the Fraud Squad and after investigations into the matter, Brown who is also a Justice of the Peace, was summoned last month to face charges in the Corporate Area Criminal Court .
Brown is charged with forgery, uttering forged document and obtaining property by means of forged document.
