Cops probe brothers' murder

December 08, 2007

Detectives in St. James are probing the double murder of Easton and Richard Beckford at Capita in Green Pond in the parish.

The Beckford brothers, ages 33 and 25, respectively, were found inside Richard's house Thursday morning with multiple gunshot wounds. Explosions were reportedly heard in the area about 10:00 the night before.

Easton, who was recently released from prison where he served time on a gun-related conviction, was in the community visiting his brother. Up to yesterday, no motive had been established for the killing

To date, 175 persons have been murdered in the St. James police division since the start of the year. This is three fewer than the total number of murders recorded in the parish last year.
