Investigating Moses' death

February 03, 2009

THE St Andrew North police are still investigating the death of gospel singer Moses, whose body was found January 27 in the Mammee River area of Gordon Town, St Andrew.

Deputy Superintendent Altemorth Campbell said the police are awaiting results from a post-mortem to determine whether the 28 year-old Moses (real name Kassim Grant) was pushed from a bridge into a riverbed.

A police report said Grant had been involved in a dispute with a relative in Gordon Town and allegedly fired two shots at the man, who fled. Shortly after, the singer's body was discovered.

Moses was best known for the songs Salvation Story, Big Him Up, Di Real Big Man and When Di Tunda Roll.

He related his conversion to Christianity in several interviews, saying he gave up a life of crime to record inspirational songs, starting with record producer Danny Browne.
