Common Law Online
Originating in the English courts, Common Law was derived from customs, principles, judgments and usages rather than codified written laws. It includes all of the statutory and case law background of England and the American Colonies before the American Revolution. Generally speaking, Common Law can be applied to situations not covered by the statue. However, one should proceed with caution, as Common Law can be viewed in opposition to the statute and even revered as criminal.
